2. South Indian Ocean area (135e west to coast of Africa):
a. Tropical cyclone summary:
(1) at 191800z, tropical cyclone 02s (anika) was located near
12.6s 100.1e, approximately 125 nm east of Cocos Island, and had
tracked southeastward at 13 knots over the past six hours. Maximum
sustained surface winds were estimated at 50 knots gusting to 65
knots. See ref a (wtxs31 pgtw 192100) for further details.
(2) at 191800z, tropical cyclone 03s (three) was located near
9.7s 79.9e, approximately 465 nm east-southeast of Diego Garcia, and
had tracked eastward over the past six hours. Maximum sustained
surface winds were estimated at 35 knots gusting to 45 knots. See
ref b (wtxs32 pgtw 192100) for further details.
(3) no other tropical cyclones.
B. Tropical disturbance summary:
(1) the area of convection previously located near 9.7s 79.0e,
is now the subject of a tropical cyclone warning. See para. 2.A.(2)
